I’m Hassan, a Computer and Communications Engineering student at the American University of Beirut. I’m interested in how components, code and data come together—and how to test whether they work.

A CLOSER LOOK / MODEL EVALUATION
Accuracy isn’t the whole story.
A majority-class baseline can look convincing while missing the class that matters. In our intrusion-detection project, comparing attack-class F1 exposed what headline accuracy hid.
Recorded team-project results on approximately 440,000 UNSW-NB15 flows. This comparison is not a live benchmark or a production deployment.
Majority baseline85.40%
SRP-30 / ADWIN99.22%
Both accuracy figures look high. Switch to F1 to see the difference in attack detection.

What makes a language model practical for private, offline use on a phone?
I’m researching small language models with attention to model size, RAM requirements, privacy and performance. This work informs collaborative model-selection decisions and future integration planning.

Internet of Drones security
How can connected drones authenticate securely under resource constraints?
I’m participating in a joint undergraduate research group on Internet of Drones security, supervised by Profs. Karim Kabalan, Pierre Abi-Char and Mohammed Al-Husseini.

Research in progress. Unpublished protocols and internal project material are not shared here.
03 / BACKGROUND
Computer engineering, from logic to hardware.
I enjoy working out how a system fits together, whether that means checking instruction encodings, tracing measurement data or choosing hardware for a robot.
At AUB, my projects have taken me from computer architecture and network protocols to model evaluation and user research. My current robot FYP brings that systems perspective back to a physical product.
I’m interested in internships and research in hardware and product systems, testing and validation, networking, security and applied AI.
